Fresh air for Fitch Bay?
On March 22, the municipality held a participatory consultation on a Plan Particulier d’urbanisme specifically for Fitch Bay. You will find the report of this consultation on the municipality’s website.
29 participants openly shared their impressions on what they think of Fitch Bay, what inspires them and what they consider to be priorities for its revitalization. Many thanks to the participants for taking part in this important and highly instructive exercise.
We can certainly agree that Fitch Bay inspires a deep attachment to nature and tranquillity. Access to this nature, and in particular to the proximity of water, was raised time and again. Significant challenges were also identified, particularly in terms of service provision, especially of a commercial nature, as well as safe travel within the village core (especially on foot). The preservation of the village’s built heritage and landscape also remains a well-felt challenge. Finally, participants aspire to an innovative, respectful and sustainable community, where harmonious cohabitation and access to nature are at the heart of daily life.
This consultation activity marks a step in the great process of overhauling all our current urban planning tools, and points specifically to concerns that must be taken into account to glimpse an optimistic future for Fitch Bay.
In early summer 2025, the municipality plans to proceed with the filing of new urban planning by-laws. Fitch Bay’s Plan particulier d’urbanisme will be part of this, as a component specifically designed to foster its revitalization. A public meeting will follow this step. Stay tuned for our news releases on this important project.

On March 1, the municipality held a participatory consultation on the draft of a new Urban Plan for the municipality. You’ll find the consultation report on the municipal website.
25 participants gave their impressions on the priorities to be given to land-use planning orientations. Participants agreed that, in the coming years, we must support the efforts needed to ensure that the Township of Stanstead is a harmonious place where nature and sustainable development coexist, and where an exceptional quality of life can be found. This very brief summary supports a set of concerns and interests that have been expressed, constituting raw material for analysis and should enable our consultants to validate the relevance of the work undertaken and complete it with the requisite sensitivity.
This consultation activity marks the beginning of the procedures that will lead the municipality to the adoption of the new Urban Plan, as a planning tool for its future, in terms of land use, for at least the next 15 years.
Recognizing the need for special care, another participatory consultation was held on March 22, this time dedicated specifically to the village core of Fitch Bay. The consultation report will follow shortly.
Early in the summer of 2025, the municipality will have the opportunity to table new urban planning by-laws, based on the above-mentioned planning tools. A public meeting will follow this step. Stay tuned for our news releases concerning this important project.
