Survey: pilot project at Carré Copp

It was essentially during the summer of 2024 that the municipality proceeded with a project consisting of the installation of small decorative fences and signs, in the CarrĂ© Copp (Georgeville). The municipality had undertaken to come back to residents to validate the relevance of maintaining this project (see all survey results on the municipality’s website: link….).

The survey was made available in March 2025, and we are now in a position to draw some conclusions:

  • 62 people answered the proposed questions. A special thanks to a member of the revitalization committee, Suzanne Tremblay, for her assistance in carrying out and distributing this survey;
  • The average of all responses obtained gives a result of 3.8 out of 5 (or 76%). We also note that the median of responses (the result of the person in the middle of the respondents) puts the result at 4.2 (or 84%). This simply tells us that the satisfaction rate of the greatest number of respondents is relatively high, but that those who are less so indicated a low score;
  • The ground markings and the positioning of the small fences received slightly lower scores than the others (average of 3.3 and 3.5 out of 5);
  • A wide variety of comments were made, including :

Gratitude for the project, to the point of suggesting that these installations not be replaced;

The marking, done in 2023, not having held up as well as expected, we were told that in summer 2024 it was not very pretty;

A few comments on the advisability of building a sidewalk for pedestrians and managing vehicle speed by various other means;

The pruning of trees and shrubs around Carré Copp should be monitored;

The speed limit sign (15 Km/h), located near the inn, could be moved to the entrance of Carré Copp and this structure removed;

Parking near the dock should also be better controlled;

This survey shows us a rather comfortable general appreciation, but with well expressed contrary opinions. This indicates that the experience deserves a return, while remaining attentive to how citizens will live with it. Finally, adjustments of various kinds will need to be discussed with the municipality.
