À la douce mémoire

Mère de cinq garçons, avec feu son mari Robert Langlois qui a aussi été conseiller municipal au Canton de Stanstead, la famille Gaudreau-Langlois a été pendant de nombreuses années au centre des activités civiques et communautaires du Village de Fitch Bay.

Conseillère municipale pendant 2 mandats consécutifs, de 2009 à 2017, Gaëtane a décidé de se représenter en 2021. Elle a été la seule candidate à briguer et à remporter son élection, tous les autres membres ayant été élus par acclamation.

Soucieuse de mieux répondre aux besoins de ses voisins, elle était particulièrement heureuse de voir la construction de la caserne de pompiers enfin aboutir et passait devant en voiture tous les jours pour en surveiller l’avancement des travaux. Alors que le bâtiment était encore en construction, elle a décliné toutes les invitations à visiter l’intérieur. Elle souhaitait attendre l’ouverture officielle afin que sa première visite se fasse en même temps que ses concitoyens et ce pour partager l’expérience avec eux.

Tristement, elle n’a jamais réalisé cette visite.

L’érable planté près de la caserne en 2025 est une reconnaissance de son engagement envers les pompiers volontaires et envers sa communauté.

Nous avons tous été témoins de son amour pour les nombreux membres de sa famille, de son dévouement à notre communauté et de son attachement aux valeurs de justice et de solidarité.

Que le souvenir d’elle soit une bénédiction pour chacun d’entre nous.

IN FOND MEMORY

Mother of five boys, with her late husband Robert Langlois who was also a municipal councilor in Stanstead Township, the Gaudreau-Langlois family was for many years at the center of civic and community activities in the Village of Fitch Bay.

A municipal councilor for 2 consecutive terms, from 2009 to 2017, Gaëtane decided to run again in 2021 and was the only candidate to run and win her election, all other members of council being elected without opposition.

Always concerned with better serving the needs of her neighbors, she was particularly pleased to see the construction of the fire station finally come to fruition and would drive by every day to follow its progress. However, she rejected invitations to visit the interior, while the building was still under construction. She chose to wait for the official opening, wanting to make her first visit at the same time as her fellow citizens so she could share the experience with them.

Sadly, she never got to make this visit.

The maple tree planted in 2025 near the fire station is in recognition of her commitment to the volunteer fire fighters and to her community.

We all witnessed her love for her many family members, her dedication to our community and her commitment to the values of justice and solidarity.

May the memory of her be a blessing to all of us.
