Township of Stanstead, March 18, 2020 – Following the closure of the Town Hall, the Township Municipality wishes to inform citizens of the options available to them to continue to enjoy the essential services of the municipality.
Payment of municipal taxes can be made by cheque sent by mail or deposited in the deposit box located at the Town Hall, or online through the following financial institutions:
- Banque de Montréal
- Banque Scotia
- Banque Nationale
- Banque Laurentienne
- Caisses Desjardins
Building permits and Inspections
The issue of building permits and certificates of authorization is always possible. Information requests should be made by telephone at 819 876-2948 or by e-mail at email@example.com
Building permit applications can be completed online and will be processed within the usual time frame cantonstanstead.ca. Application fees must be made by cheque and mailed or deposited in the drop box. We are currently evaluating options to allow online payment.
The Fire Safety Service is maintained in its entirety and special precautions have been put in place. For the Fire Prevention Division, contacts with the population will be limited.
In addition, in order to respond to the exceptional situation created by the COVID-19 crisis and to offer a respite to citizens and merchants, following the recommendation of the Union des Municipalités du Québec (UMQ) and the MRC Memphrémagog, the following measures have been adopted:
The Municipality of the Township of Stanstead will suspend the application of interest rates on overdue amounts on municipal tax accounts for the next payment period until May 20, 2020.
Sale of Properties for Non-Payment of Property Taxes
The Municipality of the Township of Stanstead has made the decision to remove all properties from the tax sale process. The municipal administration will contact the concerned property owners to sign a debt recognition and make a payment agreement.
Please be advised that the Municipality is following the daily recommendations of the Quebec government and will continue to act to ensure that it contributes to limiting the spread of the virus. The population is invited to do the same in order to return to normal as soon as possible.
