We are deeply saddened by the death of our friend and colleague GaƩtane (Gaudreau) Langlois, municipal councillor of Stanstead Township.

All of us will recognize her love for her many family members, her dedication to our community and her commitment to the values of justice and solidarity.

Mother of five boys, with her late husband Robert Langlois who was also a municipal councillor in Stanstead Township, the Gaudreau-Langlois family was for many years at the center of civic and community activities in the Village of Fitch Bay.

A municipal councillor for 2 consecutive terms, from 2009 to 2017, GaƩtane decided to run again in 2021 and was the only council member to run and win her election, all other members were elected without opposition.

Concerned with always wanting to serve better the needs of residents, she fondly remembered lunches and community dinners in the village. She was particularly pleased to see the construction of the fire station finally come to fruition and would drive by every day to follow its progress. However, she rejected invitations to visit the interior while the building was still under construction, preferring to wait for the official opening. She explained that she wanted to make this visit at the same time as her fellow citizens so she could share the experience.

Always cheerful and wishing to bring a smile to each meeting of council, she will be greatly missed.

On behalf of the employees, council members and citizens of the Township, we offer our deepest condolences to her family and friends.
